Boddington is a humble suburb in the Peel region, Western Australia. It is located between the town of Williams and Pinjarra, and sits 120 kilometers southeast of Perth.
The town has over 1, 107 people on 2011, with an increase of 181 residence from the last conducted census in 2016.
Boddington got its name from an early settler named Henry Boddington. Henry is a shepherd and a farmer, who rented the area in 1875 before he moved to Wagin.
In 1912, during the construction of the Hothem Valley Railway, a new town site adjacent to Hotham was developed and gazetted. The town was later fully-developed with schools, council offices, hospitals, agricultural halls, post office and shops.
However, the dynamic lifestyle in the Boddington declined after the Dwellingup fire devastated the place in 1961.
The railway was closed in 1960, which turned Boddington a typical small service area. However, after several years, Bauxite mining and Boddington Goldmind was established in the suburb, making it a thriving mining town.
Boddington is a small town with many beautiful tourist attractions. Getting around Boddington, you’ll see the Cheltenham Montpellier Treasure Trail, the Hindcote Manor Garden, Malvern Hills Spy Mission Treasure Trail, the Old New Inn Model Village, Roman Alcester Heritage Center, and the Kiftsgate Court Gardens.
Few of the historical attractions to visit in Boddington are the Grave of Quency Dilyan, the most interesting historical area; and the Marradong, where the tiny St. Albans Anglican church is situated.
