History of Cowaramup
Cowaramup was named after the Cowaramup Sliding located near the Busselton to Augusta Railway. The success of the dairy and timber industry in the area has paved way for the town to be officially gazetted in 1925.
Historically, the name came from the Aboriginal term cowara, which means purple- crowned lorikeet.
