About Vasse
Located in the South West region of Western Australia, the suburb of Vasse nestles 149 miles southwest of Perth and 6 miles west of Busselton. It is also under the local government area of Busselton City.
The suburb has a population of 1, 733 based on the 2011 census.
History of Vasse
The name Vasse was derived from the Vasse Estuary and Vasse River, which were named after Thomas Vasse, a French seaman.
According to humor, Vasse was drowned and lost in the river. Therefore, it was named after him.
G.F Moore, on the other hand, conducted an interview with the aboriginals and he found out that Vasse had not been drowned in the river. He died because of anxiety and poor lifestyle.
The suburb was originally part of the Busselton Cammonage reserve in 1879. It was inspected by the Department of Agriculture in 1898 and decided to develop it to a subdivision. After the improvement was completed in 1906, the old swamp land was named as Vasse and formally became a town in 1907.
