Witchcliffe is located in the South West Region of Western Australia. It lies 178 miles south of Perth, 6 miles South of Margaret River, and 25 miles North of Augusta.
Based on 2011 census, Witchcliffe has a population of 339.
History of Witchcliffe
The town’s name came from the Witchcliffe cave, which came from the idea of the Bussell family in 1850’s.
In 1924, the Fliders Bay Branch Railway was extended to Witchcliffe. The siding was supposed to be named Naraway but because of the existing post office located in Witchcliffe, it named as Witchcliffe instead.
In 1924, lots were surveyed and sold to new land owners. In 1926, the town was gazetted.
The timber industry has become popular in the place which gave rise to the Witchcliffe sawmill in 1922.
